Four Days of Holistic Entertainment to Engage All the Senses The Virginia Key GrassRoots Festival Presents: 50 Bands from Around the World, Wellness Workshops & Healing Arts

Miami, Florida – The 3rd Annual Virginia Key GrassRoots Festival of Music, Art & Dance presents 4-Days of holistic entertainment to engage all of the senses, February 20th-23rd, 2014. Oriented as a ‘lifestyle festival’, in addition to a solid musical foundation of over 50 bands from around the world, the Festival’s Zen Village and Healing Arts Area host numerous wellness workshops and services by practitioners of many healing modalities. Festival organizers create a relaxed, family-friendly environment for arts celebration, wellness practice, community building, and cross-cultural exchange on the beautiful beaches of The Historic Virginia Key Beach Park.

The Virginia Key GrassRoots Festival is honored to partner with the Zen Village of Coconut Grove to host the Healing Arts Area, Tea House, daily movement and wellness workshops, and services offered by healers of a variety of modalities, all set in a lovely shaded grove along the water. Festival organizers welcome you to come and allow yourself to set adrift in this relaxing healing current.

Each day of the Festival, The Zen Village and Tea House host Tea Ceremonies, incense and prayer offering, blessing puja, personal prayer beading, Chinese high tea, and protection puja. Throughout the weekend they also host a variety of special events including meditation for beginners, healing drumming, Zen living workshop, and Dr. Love QiGong workshop. Their Zen Tea Ceremonies are hosted by Master Chufei Tsai, who has three decades of tea experience in educating people on using their five senses to bring peace and openness to one’s life.

An abundance of Yoga and other movement workshops also take place each day. Highlights include MC Yogi Workshop (Sunday Feb 23rd 2:30-4pm), Vinyasa Yoga, Tibetan Healing Yoga, Tai Chi, Tensegrity, Vinyasa Yoga with Afrobeta, Laughter Yoga, Hooping Workshops, Dance for Universal Peace and Morning group meditation practice. Most workshops take place in the spacious 10,000 square foot wooden floored Dance Tent along the ocean.

The Healing Arts Area will be open from 10am-6pm daily with Reflexology, Shaitsu, Deep Tissue Massage, Yoga Massage, Thai Massage, Reiki, Prana Healing, Singing Bowls Sound Healing Meditation and more offered.

An incredibly diverse and culturally rich musical lineup creates the Festival’s foundation. Hip-Hop modern mystic MC Yogi joins Latin Grammy Award-winning Afro-Colombian group ChocQuibTown, Zimbabwe’s national treasure and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Oliver Mtukudzi, the most awarded Bluegrass legend of all time Del McCoury, Latin Grammy Award-winning Best New Artist Sie7e, Trail-Blazing Americana mainstay Donna the Buffalo, current Reggae chart toppers John Brown’s Body, plus tons of hometown heavy-hitters like Spam All-Stars, Locos Por Juana, Suenalo, and Elastic Bond. Over 70 performances scheduled ranging in genre from Cajun to Electronic, Roots Rock, Latin Pop, Country, Hip-Hop and beyond!

Environmental sustainability and ecological preservation are also central elements of the Festival. The Sustainability Fair & Expo is an interactive model of engagement between South Florida businesses and festival attendees. Over the course of the weekend Green Businesses work alongside non-profits to promote a sustainable future for Miami including solar demos, bio-diesel education, urban farming workshops, and more. Biking to the festival is encouraged! Half-priced Sunday tickets are available for all who arrive by bicycle and numerous bike-centric activities are offered throughout the weekend.

The Festival is full of activities for kids and families. The Kid’s Village offers free art projects, musical workshops, story time, kids’ yoga, a playground, games and all kinds of creative exploration all day long! Kids ages 12 and under are admitted for free.

Held on the pristine sands of the Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, camping is available just steps from the sparkling Atlantic Ocean. Virginia Key is a short ride from downtown Miami, but is quiet and secluded from the hustle and bustle of the city, creating the perfect setting for this one-of-a-kind festival. Tent camping and Vehicle Camping are available. Campers can come stay for single nights or all 4 nights of the festival.

Tickets are very moderately priced, with day passes ranging from $25-$40. Adult 4-Day Tickets are $100 in advance, $120 at the gate. Youth ages 13-15 are just $20 per day or $50 for 4-Days, with Kids 12 & under Free. Tent Camping Passes are $25 per night or $50 for 4-Nights. Vehicle Camping Passes, which include a tent pass are $50 per night or $100 for 4 Nights. Any vehicle larger than 21ft and cars towing campers are considered RVs and priced at $150. The Virginia Key GrassRoots Festival Brings Family-Friendly World Music, Arts, and Dance Celebration to Miami Feb 20-23rd

Miami, Florida  – Organizers of the 3rd Annual Virginia Key GrassRoots Festival create a relaxed, family-friendly environment filled with world music, dance, and art for all ages to enjoy. From Thursday February 20th through Sunday the 23rd, over 50 bands from around the world will perform, representing a huge diversity of genres and cultural heritages. The Festival is full of interactive arts experiences and cultural enrichment opportunities, with a huge Kid’s Village packed with programming just for young ones. Children ages 12 & under are admitted to the Festival for free.

The Kid’s Village is the Festival’s central hub for families. There, creative explorations for young people are available throughout the day, at no additional charge! These include a wide rotation of art projects, games, nature & wildlife walks, origami, bubbles, science projects, and more. Plus, there’s a brand new playground right in the center of the Kid’s Village.

The Festival caters to families, presenting kid-oriented programming in the Sustainability Pavilion each morning and early afternoon. Highlights include Kids Stories, Kids Yoga, UDoodle Programs, Kids Drumming, and other special presentations to be announced. Then on Sunday afternoon, the Festival hosts one of the most exciting activities for kids; the Let’s Emerge Miami Nature Parade! Everyone is welcome to participate in the procession around the festival grounds at 2pm spreading messages of appreciation for the natural world and environmental positivity; costumes, props, and music instruments encouraged.

Music and Dance workshops geared towards adults and older children take place all weekend. Musical workshop highlights include; World Drumming, Banjo & Fiddle with legend Richie Sterns, and Native Flute. Dance workshops for all levels take place prior to performances in the Dance Tent, including Bachata, Salsa, and Zydeco instruction. At Miami’s Scratch DJ Academy Booth, festival-goers of all ages can try their hand at DJ-ing with instruction from world-renowned DJs and teachers.

The event is in many ways a ‘lifestyle festival’ with a holistic approach to entertainment that engages all of the senses. In partnership with the Zen Village of Coral Gables, the Healing Arts Area offers workshops in various lineages of Yoga, meditation, Tai Chi, traditional dance, healing drumming, and more wellness practices. Practitioners of various healing modalities such as massage, Reiki, and more offer their services throughout the day in a lovely shaded grove along the water.

The Virginia Key GrassRoots Festival’s mission is to create a platform for cross-cultural dialogue and global community engagement. The Festival facilitates culturally rich arts experiences that nurture the preservation of traditional and folk music while showcasing their modern incarnations.

And now for something completely different, The Virginia Key GrassRoots Festival offers camping on the beach, in Miami!

Miami, FL – Back again for it’s 3rd year, the Virginia Key GrassRoots Festival offers something completely different than any other music festival in Miami. Held on the pristine sands of the Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, camping is available on the main festival grounds, just steps from the sparkling Atlantic Ocean. Virginia Key is a short ride from downtown Miami, but is quiet and secluded from the hustle and bustle of the city, creating the perfect setting for this one-of-a-kind festival.

Tent camping and Vehicle Camping are available, centrally located to all the Festival’s amenities such as 24-hour food vendors, 4 stages of entertainment, the bathhouse & its hot showers, morning yoga & Tai Chi classes, and so much more. Campers can come stay for single nights or all 4 nights of the festival, taking place Thursday February 20th through Sunday February 23rd 2014.

There is a Family Campground on-site as well, farther away from the stages but still close to the Kids’ Village. This hub for young ones offers art projects, games, music workshops, story time, kids’ yoga, a playground, and all kinds of creative explorations all day long.

At the foundation of it all is a diverse lineup of over 40 bands from all over the world.
